ATO Flood Assistance

Following the current devastating floods along the East Coast, the ATO have advised they are able to assist with the following in certain circumstances:

• Give extra time to pay debts or lodge tax forms such as Activity Statements;
• Help find lost TFNs (after verifying identity);
• Re-issue income tax returns, activity statements and notices of assessment;
• Help reconstruct lost or damaged tax records;
• Prioritise any refunds owed by them;
• Set up a tailored payment plan including interest free terms; and
• Remit penalties or interest

Remember, the ATO cannot give any extensions on time to pay or assist business with Superannuation Guarantee obligations as this is governed by separate legislation.
